Male Fertility Test in Lahore

A male fertility test is a private, simple assessment of sperm health, male hormones and the reproductive tract. Male factors contribute to close to half of infertility cases, so testing early saves time for both partners. Dr. Kamran Saleem explains every result clearly and treats the visit with complete confidentiality.

This is part of our Fertility Assessment & Diagnosis. Tests are recommended only when they are clinically appropriate and likely to guide your next step.

What Is a Male Fertility Test?

A set of tests, with semen analysis at the centre.

The semen analysis shows how many sperm are present, how well they move and what shape they have. It is supported by a conversation about your history, a physical examination and, where needed, blood tests and infection screening.

When Should a Man Be Tested?

Many men wait too long.

  • You have been trying to conceive for 12 months, or 6 months if your partner is over 35
  • A previous semen analysis was abnormal
  • You have had mumps after puberty, an undescended testis, testicular injury, torsion or surgery
  • You have noticed a swelling, a heavy feeling or a dilated vein in the scrotum
  • You have had an infection, or want confidential STI/STD screening
  • You have reduced libido, erectile problems or ejaculation problems
  • You are planning a pregnancy and want to check your own health

What the Assessment Includes

Each test has a reason.

  • History and examination of the testes, epididymis and the veins of the scrotum
  • WHO-standard semen analysis: volume, count, movement, shape and vitality
  • Hormone tests when indicated: testosterone, FSH, LH and sometimes prolactin
  • Scrotal ultrasound when a varicocele or other structural problem is suspected
  • Confidential STI/STD screening and infection tests where appropriate
  • Advanced sperm tests, such as DNA fragmentation, in selected cases
  • Genetic tests, such as chromosome and Y-chromosome tests, in severe cases

What a Male Fertility Test Can Diagnose

Most findings point to an identifiable cause.

  • Low sperm count (oligozoospermia), poor movement (asthenozoospermia) or abnormal shape (teratozoospermia)
  • No sperm in the ejaculate (azoospermia), whether from blockage or reduced production
  • Varicocele
  • Low testosterone or other hormonal causes
  • Infection or inflammation of the reproductive tract
  • Ejaculation problems, including retrograde ejaculation
  • Genetic causes in severe cases
  • Medicines, steroids or lifestyle factors affecting sperm

How to Prepare

A few simple steps make results more reliable.

  • Abstain for about two to seven days before the semen sample
  • Collect the whole sample in the container supplied and deliver it within the laboratory's time limit
  • Tell us about recent fever, illness, antibiotics and all medicines or supplements
  • Avoid anabolic steroids and unprescribed testosterone, which can switch off sperm production
  • For testosterone, an early-morning blood sample is preferred

Understanding Your Results

One result is a snapshot, not a verdict.

Sperm counts vary from sample to sample, so an abnormal result is usually repeated. Results are read together with your history, examination and hormone tests, and a man outside the reference limits can still father a child.

If a problem is found, the next step is explained clearly, including the options on our male infertility treatment page.

Confidentiality

Private, unhurried and without judgement.

Consultations and results are confidential. Dr. Kamran holds a Diploma in Genito-Urinary Medicine & Venereology (University of Liverpool, UK), and STI/STD screening, when needed, is handled privately.

Male Fertility Test Cost in Lahore

Transparent fees.

The consultation fee is shown before you confirm. Semen analysis, hormone tests and scans are priced separately and ordered only when clinically appropriate. You can ask for an itemised estimate first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a male fertility test include?

Usually a consultation and examination and a semen analysis, with hormone tests, scrotal ultrasound or infection screening added when your history suggests they are needed.

Is a semen analysis enough to test male fertility?

It is the key test, but an abnormal result is usually repeated and followed by hormone tests or other investigations to find the cause.

How long does a male fertility test take?

The semen sample is analysed within hours. The report is usually ready within a day or a few days, and we explain it in a consultation.

Is the test confidential?

Yes. Consultations, test results and STI/STD screening are private, and your information is not shared without your consent.

Do I need to bring my wife?

No. You can attend alone, although assessing both partners usually gives the clearest picture.

What if my sperm test is abnormal?

One abnormal test is not a diagnosis. It is repeated, causes are looked for, and treatment options are discussed based on the findings.

Can a male fertility test detect STIs?

Screening for infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV and hepatitis can be included where clinically indicated.

How soon should I test if we are trying to conceive?

After 12 months of trying, or 6 months if your partner is over 35, and earlier if you have a history of testicular problems or infection.
